Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B
ValueC NeedB TradesB+ FutureA
A solid, sensible weekend for the Chiefs: B.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Chiefs did exactly that with Dallin Holker in slot 69. No fireworks, but a solid B.

A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. On value alone, Smith makes the weekend a net positive.

The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick58 Rnd2 Patrick Paul
A tidy little value on Patrick Paul in slot 58, a step better than break-even. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick69 Rnd3 Dallin Holker
Dallin Holker at No. 69 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick89 Rnd3 Tyler Davis
They paid up for Tyler Davis at pick 89 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick126 Rnd4 Jaylan Ford
A wild overpay on Jaylan Ford in the 126th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The roster fit checks out.
Pick171 Rnd5 Josh Proctor
Josh Proctor at Round 5, Pick 35 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick175 Rnd5 Ainias Smith
Taking Ainias Smith in pick No. 175 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick177 Rnd6 Aki Ogunbiyi
No drama and no debate, Aki Ogunbiyi went about where he belonged in the 177th overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick204 Rnd6 Rasheen Ali
Rasheen Ali slid further than he should have, and pick 204 is lovely value for the running back. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick215 Rnd6 Zion Nelson
Fair-plus on Zion Nelson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick247 Rnd7 Cody Schrader
A slide stopped in the Round 7 slot, with Cody Schrader worth more than the price. It fills a real need, too.
