Draft Grade — Dolphins

Larceny in the 150th overall pick lands the Dolphins a B, Johnson and all.

The Dolphins spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Tez Johnson, the No. 100 name on the board, in Round 5, Pick 12.

McLaughlin has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Shemar Stewart
In No. 13 they get a bendy edge with upside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick48 Rnd2 Jihaad Campbell
They read the board right and Jihaad Campbell was the payoff at slot 48. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick98 Rnd3 Jaylin Noel
They will replay Jaylin Noel at pick No. 98 for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick116 Rnd4 Tai Felton
Tai Felton at the 116th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick135 Rnd4 Seth McLaughlin
They left a pile of value on the table to take Seth McLaughlin this early at the 135th pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick150 Rnd5 Tez Johnson
They robbed the room for Tez Johnson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick155 Rnd5 Mitchell Evans
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Mitchell Evans at Round 5, Pick 17. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick224 Rnd7 Cam Jackson
No drama and no debate, Cam Jackson went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick231 Rnd7 Robert Longerbeam
Robert Longerbeam slid further than he should have, and pick 231 is lovely value for the cornerback. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick253 Rnd7 Brandon Adams
By-the-book stuff, Brandon Adams at No. 253 squarely in line with his ranking. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
