BLESSEDBYGOD22 DRAFTING FOR THEBears
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Bears let Lambert-Smith fall and pounced. Final grade: B-. Thirty-one other rooms let KeAndre Lambert-Smith slide, and the Bears were the ones holding the card at the 233rd overall pick. Highway robbery. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. They will need Burnip to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Mykel Williams
In the Round 1 slot they get a premier pass rusher, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Malaki Starks
They let Malaki Starks come to them and pounced at pick 39. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick41
Rnd2
Wyatt Milum
Fair-plus on Wyatt Milum, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Pick72
Rnd3
Jalen Royals
Jalen Royals slid further than he should have, and the 72nd overall pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick148
Rnd5
James Burnip
James Burnip in pick No. 148 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick233
Rnd7
KeAndre Lambert-Smith
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 233rd pick is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick240
Rnd7
Thomas Fidone II
A reach for Thomas Fidone II in No. 240; a little patience would have been rewarded. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
