The search is over. The Bears handed the keys to J.J. McCarthy, and the whole operation now runs on his development.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. With running back, cornerback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them.

They are betting Rice proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
