Mosique2001 DRAFTING FOR THE49ers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the 49ers. Every other box got a look, but quarterback did not. The 49ers will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
The TeSlaa steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Cornelius has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Armand Membou
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick43
Rnd2
Princely Umanmielen
Princely Umanmielen slipping to pick No. 43 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick75
Rnd3
Jaylin Noel
Jaylin Noel slid further than he should have, and No. 75 is lovely value for the wide receiver. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick100
Rnd3
Darius Alexander
A tidy little value on Darius Alexander in slot 100, a step better than break-even. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick113
Rnd4
Smael Mondon Jr.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Smael Mondon Jr. in Round 4, Pick 11. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick138
Rnd4
Jake Majors
Jake Majors in the 138th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick147
Rnd5
Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore at pick 147 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick160
Rnd5
Ajani Cornelius
The board had cheaper options than Ajani Cornelius at the 160th overall pick, and it noticed. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick227
Rnd7
Jordan Hancock
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jordan Hancock at pick No. 227 is the proof. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick249
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Isaac TeSlaa at the 249th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick252
Rnd7
Marcus Yarns
A conviction pick on Marcus Yarns at No. 252 that the board grades a round light. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
