Draft Grade — Jets
Overall C+
ValueC NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
Some hits, some head-scratchers, and a C+ for the Jets.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Jets did exactly that with CJ West in pick 145. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. The Felton value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The skill positions did well by the weekend.

Hit on Tyler Warren and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
In the Round 1 slot they get a mismatch in the passing game, even if it was a touch early.
Pick42 Rnd2 Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo in Round 2, Pick 10 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick73 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
A conviction pick on Andrew Mukuba at pick No. 73 that the board grades a round light. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick110 Rnd4 Tai Felton
The board had Tai Felton higher than slot 110, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. The roster fit checks out.
Pick145 Rnd5 CJ West
CJ West at the 145th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick162 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at No. 162 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick186 Rnd6 Jalen McLeod
They talked themselves into Jalen McLeod at pick 186, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick207 Rnd6 R.J. Mickens
A reach for R.J. Mickens in the Round 6 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
