Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB+
The Commanders won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B+.

The Commanders ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.

Stone falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Every board in the league had Pieper lower, and that gap is the story.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 David Stone
In No. 26 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick50 Rnd2 Bryant Wesco Jr.
They took Bryant Wesco Jr. at par in pick No. 50, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick60 Rnd2 Bray Hubbard
A reasonable price with a little left over, Bray Hubbard in the Round 2 slot. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick71 Rnd3 Kade Pieper
A conviction pick on Kade Pieper at the 71st pick that the board grades a round light. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick114 Rnd4 Jayden Jackson
No drama and no debate, Jayden Jackson went about where he belonged in the 114th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
Pick145 Rnd5 Tony Rojas
Tony Rojas at slot 145 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick154 Rnd5 Jayden Bellamy
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jayden Bellamy. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick185 Rnd6 Andrew Rappleyea
Andrew Rappleyea in pick 185 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick195 Rnd6 Christian Alliegro
By-the-book stuff, Christian Alliegro at No. 195 squarely in line with his ranking. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick196 Rnd6 T.J. Moore
They jumped the gun on T.J. Moore, taking him earlier than his grade liked. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick223 Rnd7 Jay'Vion Cole
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jay'Vion Cole at the 223rd overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
