Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
Larceny in the Round 3 slot lands the Commanders a B, Pieper and all.

Somebody in Round 3, Pick 8 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Commanders sat still while Kade Pieper, the No. 45 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The skill positions did well by the weekend.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Cam Coleman
In pick No. 10 they get a true top target. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick41 Rnd2 Trey'Dez Green
Steal is underselling it; Trey'Dez Green at slot 41 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick72 Rnd3 Kade Pieper
Taking Kade Pieper in No. 72 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick109 Rnd4 Raylen Wilson
Good price on Raylen Wilson in pick 109, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick143 Rnd5 J'Koby Williams
They took J'Koby Williams at par in the 143rd overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick196 Rnd6 Earnest Greene III
Fair-plus on Earnest Greene III, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick233 Rnd7 Maraad Watson
Maraad Watson in the Round 7 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
