Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall A-
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
The Commanders let Scott fall and pounced. Final grade: A-.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Commanders watched Justin Scott slide 38 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. The Commanders clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

Tight end is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Trey'Dez Green
In pick 26 they get a matchup weapon at tight end. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick60 Rnd2 Justin Scott
Justin Scott in Round 2, Pick 28 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick77 Rnd3 Lance Heard
Lance Heard at the 77th pick is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick110 Rnd4 Corey Myrick
Corey Myrick at slot 110 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick126 Rnd4 Jayden Jackson
Jayden Jackson is a better player than No. 126 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick145 Rnd5 Drew Bobo
Drew Bobo at pick No. 145 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick196 Rnd6 Christian Alliegro
No drama and no debate, Christian Alliegro went about where he belonged in the 196th overall pick. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick223 Rnd7 Antonio Kite
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 7 slot with a little surplus value in Antonio Kite. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
