Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall A-
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
The Commanders robbed the room for Mack. Final grade: A-.

Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Commanders came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.

They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Mack steal is the beam this whole class leans on. If Sharpe pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

The Alec Pierce deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

In the end it comes back to David Stone, and a haul good enough to build on right away.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 David Stone
A quiet steal in Round 1, Pick 27: David Stone for less than the market said. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick58 Rnd2 Jamari Sharpe
They paid up for Jamari Sharpe at the 58th pick when waiting would have done the job. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick127 Rnd4 Jaylen McClain
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jaylen McClain at pick 127 is the proof. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick132 Rnd4 Justin Evans
Justin Evans at the Round 4 slot is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick145 Rnd5 Whit Weeks
A tidy little value on Whit Weeks in slot 145, a step better than break-even. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick170 Rnd5 King Mack
A top-tier safety at a bargain, King Mack in the 170th overall pick, plain and simple. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick223 Rnd7 Boo Carter
Boo Carter at No. 223 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
