Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall A
ValueA- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA
The Cowboys let Gadsden II fall and pounced. Final grade: A.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Oronde Gadsden II got past him. The Cowboys do not have to explain a thing at pick 239. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A to show for it.

Ingram-Dawkins has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Bottom line, with Luther Burden III leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Luther Burden III
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a go-to option on the outside, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick44 Rnd2 Benjamin Morrison
Benjamin Morrison at pick No. 44 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick76 Rnd3 Kaleb Johnson
The board fumbled Kaleb Johnson all the way to pick 76, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick109 Rnd4 Danny Stutsman
Somehow Danny Stutsman was still sitting there in No. 109, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick132 Rnd4 Denzel Burke
They barely believed it either: Denzel Burke still on the board at the 132nd pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick149 Rnd5 Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins
They reached into another round for Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick171 Rnd5 Riley Leonard
Riley Leonard at the 171st overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick174 Rnd5 Brashard Smith
Taking Brashard Smith in the Round 5 slot is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick204 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in pick 204 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick211 Rnd6 Jack Nelson
Jack Nelson at No. 211 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick239 Rnd7 Oronde Gadsden II
A tight end of that caliber at the 239th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick247 Rnd7 Karene Reid
Karene Reid in slot 247 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
