Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Packers: B-.

The Packers went off the board in a big way for John Emery Jr., 96 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Hicks pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots still on the board. Barner at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Quinyon Mitchell
In pick No. 25 they get an island corner at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick41 Rnd2 Calen Bullock
By-the-book stuff, Calen Bullock at slot 41 squarely in line with his ranking. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick57 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
Zach Frazier at the 57th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick88 Rnd3 McKinnley Jackson
A straight-up fair deal on McKinnley Jackson at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick91 Rnd3 Jaden Hicks
A want over a need in the 91st overall pick: Jaden Hicks adds a safety while edge rusher, quarterback and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick125 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
They paid up for Cedric Gray at No. 125 when waiting would have done the job. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick135 Rnd4 Jaylen Wright
A real head-scratcher, Jaylen Wright in Round 4, Pick 35 is miles ahead of his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick203 Rnd6 Christian Jones
Christian Jones at pick 203 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It fills a real need, too.
Pick217 Rnd6 Darius Muasau
Darius Muasau in the 217th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick219 Rnd6 AJ Barner
AJ Barner at the Round 6 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick246 Rnd7 John Emery Jr.
John Emery Jr. at No. 246 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
