Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB
The Bears worked the phones like thieves and earned a B+.

The Jalen Travis pick is the one that will follow the Bears into the fall. They took him 51 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.

Landing Ransom that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Shemar Stewart
In the 14th overall pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick39 Rnd2 Jihaad Campbell
By-the-book stuff, Jihaad Campbell at Round 2, Pick 7 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick46 Rnd2 Tyleik Williams
Tyleik Williams in the Round 2 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick57 Rnd2 Quinshon Judkins
They went early on Quinshon Judkins in pick 57, and the value did not follow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick72 Rnd3 Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge at pick No. 72 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick114 Rnd4 Jared Wilson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jared Wilson at slot 114. It fills a real need, too.
Pick148 Rnd5 Lathan Ransom
They robbed the room for Lathan Ransom here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick232 Rnd7 Jalen Travis
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jalen Travis well ahead of where he belonged. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick233 Rnd7 Jermari Harris
Jermari Harris at the 233rd pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick240 Rnd7 Shilo Sanders
Shilo Sanders in pick No. 240 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
