Larceny in No. 55 lands the 49ers a B-, Campbell and all. Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The 49ers came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
A whole weekend of picks and offensive lineman is somehow still a want. The Campbell value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
The 49ers paired the rookies with proven help, Joe Alt leading the way.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Jalon Walker
In slot 22 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43
Rnd2
Benjamin Morrison
Nothing to complain about; Benjamin Morrison went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick55
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell at the 55th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick56
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with Xavier Watts worth more than the price. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick62
Rnd2
Elic Ayomanor
No drama and no debate, Elic Ayomanor went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 30. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick100
Rnd3
Quinn Ewers
Quinn Ewers in pick 100 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
