Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the 49ers.

The 49ers did not so much draft Caedan Wallace as overpay for him, 37 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Barrett value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
In No. 31 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick63 Rnd2 Braden Fiske
A clean, defensible pick in the 63rd overall pick with a little surplus value in Braden Fiske. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick94 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
They paid sticker price for Khyree Jackson in the 94th pick, and that is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick124 Rnd4 Luke McCaffrey
A real head-scratcher, Luke McCaffrey in the Round 4 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick131 Rnd4 James Williams
A reasonable price with a little left over, James Williams in slot 131. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick133 Rnd4 Beaux Limmer
Good price on Beaux Limmer in pick No. 133, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick176 Rnd6 Caedan Wallace
Caedan Wallace at No. 176 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick211 Rnd6 Frank Gore Jr.
They paid a round early for Frank Gore Jr. in the Round 6 slot, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick215 Rnd6 Jared Wiley
A tidy bit of business in pick 215, where Jared Wiley graded well above the range. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick251 Rnd7 Michael Barrett
They let Michael Barrett come to them and pounced at pick No. 251. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
