Draft Grade — Jets
Overall F
ValueD- NeedB+ TradesF FutureC
Milroe is the plan now, and the Jets grade out a F.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Jets took Jalen Rivers a full 127 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

The James steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose.

Whatever Jalen Milroe becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer.

Bottom line, it will take a lot of luck to make this look better later.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 Jalen Milroe
In the 7th pick they get their quarterback of the future, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick38 Rnd2 Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson at No. 38 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The roster fit checks out.
Pick90 Rnd3 Evan Stewart
They went early on Evan Stewart in the Round 3 slot, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick96 Rnd3 Colston Loveland
They robbed the room for Colston Loveland here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick109 Rnd4 Jordan James
You do not let a running back like Jordan James reach the 109th overall pick and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick139 Rnd5 Trey Moore
Trey Moore in Round 5, Pick 1 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick143 Rnd5 Keon Sabb
Keon Sabb in the 143rd overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick145 Rnd5 Benjamin Morrison
They reached into another round for Benjamin Morrison, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick147 Rnd5 Antonio Williams
Value said wait; Antonio Williams in Round 5, Pick 9 says they were not listening. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick162 Rnd5 Eli Stowers
Eli Stowers at pick No. 162 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick182 Rnd6 Kaimon Rucker
A big swing on Kaimon Rucker at the 182nd pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick198 Rnd6 Tonka Hemingway
Tonka Hemingway in No. 198 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It fills a real need, too.
Pick207 Rnd6 Jalen Rivers
Jalen Rivers in slot 207 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick221 Rnd7 Terrance Ferguson
They reached a country mile for Terrance Ferguson at the Round 7 slot, and the board is aghast. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick256 Rnd7 Akheem Mesidor
They talked themselves into Akheem Mesidor at pick 256, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
