Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Cardinals to a D.

The phones were a trap the Cardinals kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. A D that will need time and luck to look better.

The Kearney reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

The Steve Avila deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, wide receiver very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Kadyn Proctor
In slot 11 they get an anchor for the offensive line, even if it was a touch early. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick28 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In No. 28 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick36 Rnd2 Olaivavega Ioane
They went early on Olaivavega Ioane in pick 36, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick52 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter at Round 2, Pick 20 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick67 Rnd3 LaNorris Sellers
Value with a capital V on LaNorris Sellers in the 67th pick, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick99 Rnd3 Whit Weeks
They did well to land Whit Weeks in the 99th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick106 Rnd4 C.J. Fite
They took C.J. Fite at par in pick No. 106, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick144 Rnd5 Tao Johnson
Tao Johnson in the Round 5 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick185 Rnd6 Aamil Wagner
A tidy little value on Aamil Wagner in Round 6, Pick 4, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick219 Rnd7 Roderick Kearney
Roderick Kearney at the 219th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
