Draft Grade — Steelers

FutureA+
The Steelers let Ratledge fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. Call it larceny. Tate Ratledge sat on the board until the 150th pick, and the Steelers did not need to be asked twice.
The Allen reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick58
Rnd2
Will Campbell
Will Campbell in Round 2, Pick 26 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick92
Rnd3
Tacario Davis
They took Tacario Davis at par in pick No. 92, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick107
Rnd4
Mykel Williams
They will replay Mykel Williams at No. 107 for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick128
Rnd4
Elic Ayomanor
You do not let a wide receiver like Elic Ayomanor reach the 128th pick and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick133
Rnd4
Tyler Warren
They robbed the room for Tyler Warren here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick150
Rnd5
Tate Ratledge
They barely believed it either: Tate Ratledge still on the board at slot 150. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick162
Rnd5
Ricky White III
Ricky White III at pick 162 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick223
Rnd7
Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun at the Round 7 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick242
Rnd7
Jimmy Horn Jr.
Value said wait; Jimmy Horn Jr. in No. 242 says they were not listening. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick245
Rnd7
Kaytron Allen
Kaytron Allen at the 245th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
