The Patriots fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+.

Whoever sat across the table from the Patriots should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.

Reaching for Gillotte left real value on the table behind him. Getting Briningstool where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
