The Falcons turned the phones into found money: B. The Falcons spent real capital to be 60 picks early on Davin Vann, and the board is going to hold them to it. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Leaving offensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. However the rest shakes out, Johnson at that price is a win they earned.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Mike Green
In slot 15 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, though they paid up to get him.
Pick118
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
Nice patience on Tez Johnson, who had no business lasting to pick 118. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick218
Rnd7
Davin Vann
They talked themselves into Davin Vann at the 218th pick, and the board did not agree. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick242
Rnd7
Shemar James
By-the-book stuff, Shemar James at the Round 7 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
