Draft Grade — Bengals

FutureD
The Bengals won the night they stopped Bassa from sliding. Grade: B. Somebody in pick No. 193 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bengals sat still while Jeffrey Bassa, the No. 122 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Ashton Jeanty
In pick No. 7 they get an every-down engine for the run game at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick49
Rnd2
Derrick Harmon
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at pick 49 is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick81
Rnd3
Isaiah Bond
Isaiah Bond in Round 3, Pick 17 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick119
Rnd4
Sebastian Castro
Circle this one: Sebastian Castro at the 119th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick153
Rnd5
Billy Bowman Jr.
They barely believed it either: Billy Bowman Jr. still on the board at No. 153. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick193
Rnd6
Jeffrey Bassa
Jeffrey Bassa at the Round 6 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
