Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall D
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureA-
The Vikings finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a D.

When the story of this class is written, it opens with David Walker at slot 239, a reach of 172 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.

So much rides on Jayden Daniels that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Coleman. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back.

It is not that Stover is a bad player; it is that the Vikings had louder needs to answer first. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, running back very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In pick 9 they get a franchise quarterback. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick11 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In pick No. 11 they get a true top target, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick23 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
In slot 23 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick42 Rnd2 Terrion Arnold
Steal is underselling it; Terrion Arnold at No. 42 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick83 Rnd3 Keon Coleman
Somehow Keon Coleman was still sitting there in the 83rd overall pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick85 Rnd3 Christian Haynes
Christian Haynes at Round 3, Pick 22 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick108 Rnd4 Cade Stover
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending No. 108 on Cade Stover with running back and tight end unsolved.
Pick129 Rnd4 Luke McCaffrey
A premium they did not need to pay, Luke McCaffrey a notch or two before his time. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick148 Rnd5 James Williams
James Williams slid further than he should have, and Round 5, Pick 12 is lovely value for the safety. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick160 Rnd5 Sincere Haynesworth
Sincere Haynesworth at slot 160 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick168 Rnd5 Justin Rogers
Justin Rogers in the Round 5 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick179 Rnd6 Braiden McGregor
They reached into another round for Braiden McGregor, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick214 Rnd6 Myles Cole
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Myles Cole. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick230 Rnd7 Zion Logue
A wild overpay on Zion Logue in pick No. 230, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick239 Rnd7 David Walker
David Walker at pick 239 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
