Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesB+ FutureB-
Good, not great, for the 49ers: B.

Everything else got attention, and interior defensive lineman got none. That is a strange way for the 49ers to leave a draft. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took McGlothern. The Foster pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
In the 31st overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick70 Rnd3 Max Melton
Max Melton in the Round 3 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick94 Rnd3 Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni at No. 94 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick107 Rnd4 Javon Foster
Javon Foster at Round 4, Pick 7 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick124 Rnd4 James Williams
James Williams at pick No. 124 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick131 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
A tidy little value on Isaac Guerendo in pick 131, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick133 Rnd4 Beaux Limmer
Good price on Beaux Limmer in slot 133, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick176 Rnd6 Dwight McGlothern
A tidy bit of business in the 176th pick, where Dwight McGlothern graded well above the range. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick211 Rnd6 Garret Greenfield
They took Garret Greenfield at par in the 211th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick215 Rnd6 Erick All
They let Erick All come to them and pounced at pick No. 215. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick251 Rnd7 Jalen Coker
No drama and no debate, Jalen Coker went about where he belonged in pick 251. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
