Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall D-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
A franchise passer in Daniels headlines a D- weekend for the Cardinals.

There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Cardinals started one anyway for Anthony Gould, 42 picks ahead of schedule. Hard to defend, and the D- reflects that.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Jayden Daniels gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

That is an edge rusher worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In the Round 1 slot they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick27 Rnd1 Xavier Legette
In pick No. 27 they get a home-run threat at receiver, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick28 Rnd1 Adonai Mitchell
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick35 Rnd2 Jonathon Brooks
Jonathon Brooks at the 35th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick60 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
Chop Robinson at the 60th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick66 Rnd3 Brandon Dorlus
They took Brandon Dorlus at par in slot 66, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick71 Rnd3 Christian Haynes
A straight-up fair deal on Christian Haynes at No. 71, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick90 Rnd3 Malachi Corley
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Malachi Corley at Round 3, Pick 27. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick99 Rnd3 Mason McCormick
Mason McCormick in the 99th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick105 Rnd4 Beau Brade
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Beau Brade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick137 Rnd5 Tommy Eichenberg
A tidy bit of business in pick 137, where Tommy Eichenberg graded well above the range. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick188 Rnd6 Michael Wiley
They paid up for Michael Wiley at the Round 6 slot when waiting would have done the job. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick222 Rnd7 Omar Speights
No edge and no loss on Omar Speights in slot 222; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick224 Rnd7 Anthony Gould
Anthony Gould at the 224th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
