Draft Grade — Buccaneers

The phones sank the Buccaneers this weekend: C-. Nobody else had Richard Jibunor anywhere near Round 7, Pick 20. The Buccaneers did, by 71 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
Clark falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. With interior defensive lineman unsolved, spending premium capital on DT-EDGE is the choice that costs them.
Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Kool-Aid McKinstry
In the 19th pick they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
Tyler Nubin
Nothing to complain about; Tyler Nubin went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick62
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
No edge and no loss on Jackson Powers-Johnson in Round 2, Pick 30; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick83
Rnd3
Maason Smith
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Maason Smith at DT-EDGE with interior defensive lineman open.
Pick93
Rnd3
Audric Estime
The board had cheaper options than Audric Estime at pick 93, and it noticed. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick103
Rnd4
Cooper Beebe
A reach for Cooper Beebe in No. 103; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick119
Rnd4
Javon Foster
A conviction pick on Javon Foster at pick 119 that the board grades a round light. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick139
Rnd5
Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III in slot 139 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick167
Rnd5
Jonah Monheim
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jonah Monheim. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick168
Rnd5
Justin Eboigbe
They paid a round early for Justin Eboigbe in the 168th overall pick, more than the board wanted. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick180
Rnd6
Zion Tupuola-Fetui
No drama and no debate, Zion Tupuola-Fetui went about where he belonged in the Round 6 slot. The roster fit checks out.
Pick182
Rnd6
Dwight McGlothern
Value said wait; Dwight McGlothern in Round 6, Pick 7 says they were not listening. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick197
Rnd6
Erick All
Erick All at the 197th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick204
Rnd6
Nathaniel Watson
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Nathaniel Watson. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick208
Rnd6
Jason Henderson
Jason Henderson at slot 208 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick220
Rnd6
De'Corian Clark
De'Corian Clark in pick 220 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick240
Rnd7
Richard Jibunor
A wild overpay on Richard Jibunor in the 240th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Where it fits the depth chart is the real question.
Pick251
Rnd7
Cody Schrader
Nice patience on Cody Schrader, who had no business lasting to the Round 7 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick253
Rnd7
Fentrell Cypress II
Fentrell Cypress II in No. 253 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
