Dpk DRAFTING FOR THEEagles

Draft Grade — Eagles

Harris should have been long gone. The Eagles pounced, and earned a B. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Eagles were there to profit. Tre Harris, the No. 167 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 249. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In No. 28 they get a problem off the edge at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick45
Rnd2
Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at pick 45, value and slot in agreement. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick60
Rnd2
Quinyon Mitchell
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 2 slot with a little surplus value in Quinyon Mitchell. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick97
Rnd3
Devontez Walker
They took Devontez Walker at par in pick No. 97, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick137
Rnd5
Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson is a better player than Round 5, Pick 1 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick156
Rnd5
Sataoa Laumea
They let Sataoa Laumea come to them and pounced at slot 156. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick172
Rnd5
Braden Fiske
No edge and no loss on Braden Fiske in the 172nd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick178
Rnd6
Theo Johnson
Theo Johnson in the 178th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick249
Rnd7
Tre Harris
The board fumbled Tre Harris all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
