Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureA-
Larceny in Round 5, Pick 8 lands the Bills a B, Tampa and all.

Thirty-one other rooms let T.J. Tampa slide, and the Bills were the ones holding the card at the 144th pick. Highway robbery. The bottom line is a respectable B.

Reaching for Spann-Ford left real value on the table behind him. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

Linebacker was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick57 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
No edge and no loss on Xavier Worthy in the 57th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick63 Rnd2 Braden Fiske
Good price on Braden Fiske in pick No. 63, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick124 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson in the 124th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick128 Rnd4 McKinnley Jackson
McKinnley Jackson in the Round 4 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick134 Rnd4 James Williams
James Williams slipping to pick 134 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick144 Rnd5 T.J. Tampa
T.J. Tampa at Round 5, Pick 8 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick160 Rnd5 Isaiah Adams
Isaiah Adams at slot 160 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick176 Rnd6 Nelson Ceaser
Nelson Ceaser at No. 176 is money in the bank, a edge rusher taken below his worth. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick189 Rnd6 Dwight McGlothern
The board fumbled Dwight McGlothern all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick195 Rnd6 Ty'Ron Hopper
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Ty'Ron Hopper at No. 195. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick200 Rnd6 Trente Jones
A tidy little value on Trente Jones in Round 6, Pick 25, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick204 Rnd6 Jase McClellan
Nice patience on Jase McClellan, who had no business lasting to pick 204. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick220 Rnd6 Evan Williams
Evan Williams at slot 220 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick239 Rnd7 Brevyn Spann-Ford
The board had cheaper options than Brevyn Spann-Ford at pick No. 239, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick248 Rnd7 Sam Hartman
Sam Hartman at the 248th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
