Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB- TradesF FutureB-
A franchise passer in Williams headlines a D- weekend for the Bears.

The Bears lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.

The whole projection now runs through Caleb Williams; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The Stover pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.

Stover has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In the 1st overall pick they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In the 9th pick they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick52 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
A straight-up fair deal on Jackson Powers-Johnson at pick No. 52, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick75 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
No edge and no loss on Cooper Beebe in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick84 Rnd3 Cade Stover
Of all the spots to shop, they chose TE-EDGE. Cade Stover in pick 84 leaves interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots for later.
Pick109 Rnd4 Blake Fisher
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Blake Fisher in slot 109. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick110 Rnd4 Jaden Hicks
A tidy little value on Jaden Hicks in No. 110, a step better than break-even. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick122 Rnd4 Max Melton
A quiet steal in Round 4, Pick 22: Max Melton for less than the market said. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick146 Rnd5 Keith Randolph Jr.
They paid sticker price for Keith Randolph Jr. in Round 5, Pick 10, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
