The steal of the weekend belongs to the Bears and Majors: A-. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Bears watched Jake Majors slide 42 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Trey Hendrickson gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Mike Green
In Round 1, Pick 17 they get a bendy edge with upside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick39
Rnd2
Walter Nolen
Circle this one: Walter Nolen at the 39th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick41
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
Nothing to complain about; Tyler Booker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick49
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
They will replay Omarion Hampton at pick 49 for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick76
Rnd3
Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell in the 76th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick118
Rnd4
Mason Taylor
Somehow Mason Taylor was still sitting there in pick No. 118, and they pounced on premier tight end value. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick149
Rnd5
Jake Majors
The board fumbled Jake Majors all the way to slot 149, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
