The Bears let Scott fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Keionte Scott, Round 3, Pick 25, roughly 21 picks past where he belonged. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Kayden McDonald
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a load in the middle. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick57
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
A linebacker of that caliber at pick 57 is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Pick89
Rnd3
Keionte Scott
They robbed the room for Keionte Scott here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick129
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
Jalon Kilgore in No. 129 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick163
Rnd5
Aamil Wagner
Aamil Wagner at pick No. 163 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick239
Rnd7
Jacobe Johnson
They read the board right and Jacobe Johnson was the payoff at the Round 7 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick241
Rnd7
Trey Holly
Trey Holly at slot 241 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
