Draft Grade — Titans

FutureA
The Titans answered their biggest question with Sanders. Grade: C+. The Dayon Hayes selection is the head-turner. The Titans reached 147 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. For now it grades a C+, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
Shedeur Sanders is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.
They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. However the rest shakes out, Johnson at that price is a win they earned.
Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Shedeur Sanders
In the Round 1 slot they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick101
Rnd3
Tez Johnson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tez Johnson at pick 101. The roster fit checks out.
Pick118
Rnd4
Que Robinson
Que Robinson at pick No. 118 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick136
Rnd4
Dayon Hayes
They reached a country mile for Dayon Hayes at Round 4, Pick 35, and the board is aghast. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick140
Rnd5
Jackson Slater
A straight-up fair deal on Jackson Slater at the 140th pick, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick167
Rnd5
Mac McWilliams
They reached into another round for Mac McWilliams, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick176
Rnd6
Ricky White III
Ricky White III at pick No. 176 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick183
Rnd6
Tyler Cooper
Tyler Cooper at slot 183 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick239
Rnd7
Thor Griffith
Value said wait; Thor Griffith in the 239th overall pick says they were not listening. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
