Daddygaff DRAFTING FOR THEBengals
Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall
B-
ValueB+
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Bengals. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Bengals were there to profit. Tyler Warren, the No. 18 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 49. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
They will need Conner to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with tight end chief among the fixes.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
A tidy little value on Nick Emmanwori in the 17th overall pick, a step better than break-even. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick49
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren at pick No. 49 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick81
Rnd3
Danny Stutsman
No edge and no loss on Danny Stutsman in pick 81; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick117
Rnd4
Hayden Conner
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Hayden Conner. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
