Draft Grade — Giants
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB+
Best value of the weekend goes to the Giants for Muhammad: A-.

The real work happened on the phones. The Giants fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. They executed a plan and it shows in the A-.

They banked enough surplus on Muhammad to cover a lot of smaller sins. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. If Zuhn III pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

The Giants paired the rookies with proven help, Ja'Marr Chase leading the way.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Caleb Downs and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In slot 4 they get a centerfielder for the defense. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Kayden McDonald
Kayden McDonald at No. 34 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick46 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
Fair-plus on Sonny Styles, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick102 Rnd4 Malik Muhammad
They will replay Malik Muhammad at the Round 4 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick140 Rnd5 Justin Joly
Nothing to complain about; Justin Joly went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick183 Rnd6 Le'Veon Moss
Le'Veon Moss in the 183rd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick192 Rnd6 Evan Stewart
A tidy little value on Evan Stewart in the Round 6 slot, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick194 Rnd6 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III at pick No. 194 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
