You can hear the double-takes from here. The Vikings took Omar Speights at the 165th pick, roughly 36 spots before his name belonged. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.

Everything downstream of Drake Maye depends on Drake Maye, and the building knows it. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The Smith pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at running back and tight end.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. That Kinchens pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
