Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB+ FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Browns, and a B to prove it.

The rest of the league had time to spare on Monroe Freeling; the Browns did not wait, grabbing him 38 spots ahead at the Round 3 slot. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

However the rest shakes out, Reese at that price is a win they earned. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get a No. 1 receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick24 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
Arvell Reese at pick No. 24 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick39 Rnd2 Brandon Cisse
Nothing to complain about; Brandon Cisse went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick70 Rnd3 Monroe Freeling
A wild overpay on Monroe Freeling in slot 70, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick107 Rnd4 Jack Endries
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jack Endries at the 107th overall pick is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick139 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart in pick 139 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick144 Rnd5 Domani Jackson
A clean, defensible pick in No. 144 with a little surplus value in Domani Jackson. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick204 Rnd6 Fernando Carmona
A reach for Fernando Carmona in pick 204; a little patience would have been rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
Pick248 Rnd7 Colbie Young
Colbie Young at the 248th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
