Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Raiders drew a line under the quarterback search with Mendoza: D-.

Somebody took the Raiders to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. It grades a D-, and the process earned it.

The whole projection now runs through Fernando Mendoza; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They are betting Iheanachor proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

Bell at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In pick 1 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
Pick25 Rnd1 Sonny Styles
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick36 Rnd2 Zion Young
Zion Young in the 36th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick57 Rnd2 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at the 57th pick is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick67 Rnd3 Max Iheanachor
They went early on Max Iheanachor in the Round 3 slot, and the value did not follow. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick102 Rnd4 Skyler Bell
They barely believed it either: Skyler Bell still on the board at No. 102. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick117 Rnd4 Jalon Kilgore
Good price on Jalon Kilgore in pick No. 117, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick134 Rnd4 Billy Schrauth
A tidy little value on Billy Schrauth in slot 134, a step better than break-even. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick174 Rnd5 Ted Hurst
The board had Ted Hurst higher than pick No. 174, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick180 Rnd6 Zane Durant
Zane Durant at the 180th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. It fills a real need, too.
Pick183 Rnd6 DJ Campbell
Value with a capital V on DJ Campbell in No. 183, a genuine coup. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick219 Rnd7 Isaiah Nwokobia
Isaiah Nwokobia in pick 219 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
