FutureA+
Larceny in the 143rd overall pick lands the Giants a B, Abrams-Draine and all. The rest of the league will want that one back. Kris Abrams-Draine tumbling to the Giants in pick No. 143 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.
They left with safety solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In pick 16 they get a building block for the line at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick46
Rnd2
Tyler Nubin
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tyler Nubin at Round 2, Pick 14. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick49
Rnd2
J.J. McCarthy
Fair-plus on J.J. McCarthy, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick70
Rnd3
Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. is a better player than the Round 3 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick78
Rnd3
Christian Haynes
Christian Haynes in No. 78 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick107
Rnd4
Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks at the 107th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick115
Rnd4
Dillon Johnson
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dillon Johnson. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick143
Rnd5
Kris Abrams-Draine
They barely believed it either: Kris Abrams-Draine still on the board at slot 143. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick185
Rnd6
Javon Baker
Good price on Javon Baker in slot 185, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick193
Rnd6
Michael Barrett
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Michael Barrett at pick No. 193 is the proof. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
