The Giants cashed the board's mistake on Hampton: B-. Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Giants came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Getting Hampton where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Travis Hunter
Travis Hunter in pick 3 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick55
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
The board fumbled Omarion Hampton all the way to the 55th overall pick, and they scooped it up. The roster fit checks out.
Pick68
Rnd3
Demetrius Knight Jr.
Demetrius Knight Jr. is a better player than No. 68 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick76
Rnd3
Omarr Norman-Lott
A reasonable price with a little left over, Omarr Norman-Lott in pick No. 76. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick86
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
Good price on Ozzy Trapilo in the Round 3 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick99
Rnd3
Gunnar Helm
A slide stopped in Round 3, Pick 35, with Gunnar Helm worth more than the price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick105
Rnd4
Will Howard
They did well to land Will Howard in the 105th pick, just ahead of his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick143
Rnd5
Logan Brown
Logan Brown at pick 143 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick154
Rnd5
Ben Sauls
They went early on Ben Sauls in the 154th overall pick, and the value did not follow. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick180
Rnd6
Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II at the Round 6 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick213
Rnd6
Karene Reid
Fair-plus on Karene Reid, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick219
Rnd7
Carson Vinson
A reach for Carson Vinson in No. 219; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick246
Rnd7
Bilhal Kone
Bilhal Kone at Round 7, Pick 30 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
