Draft Grade — Giants

A weekend that raised as many questions as it answered. The Giants get a C+. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Giants took Jalen Thompson a full 60 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. That Wheatley pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice. Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 8 of 9 of the wish list covered.
If Carnell Tate and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Carnell Tate
In slot 6 they get a go-to option on the outside, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick34
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles in the 34th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick41
Rnd2
Keith Abney II
This one needs a full-page explanation: Keith Abney II in No. 41, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick72
Rnd3
Eric Singleton Jr.
They took Eric Singleton Jr. at par in pick No. 72, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick76
Rnd3
Jaeden Roberts
Jaeden Roberts at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick102
Rnd4
Zakee Wheatley
A quiet steal in pick 102: Zakee Wheatley for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick142
Rnd5
DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart at pick 142 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick182
Rnd6
Earnest Greene III
Earnest Greene III in No. 182 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick191
Rnd6
Oscar Delp
Oscar Delp in pick No. 191 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick193
Rnd6
Le'Veon Moss
By-the-book stuff, Le'Veon Moss at the Round 6 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick241
Rnd7
Jalen Thompson
A real head-scratcher, Jalen Thompson in the 241st pick is miles ahead of his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
