The Giants answered their biggest question with Ward. Grade: C-. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Brashard Smith got past him. The Giants do not have to explain a thing at Round 7, Pick 5. It lands right in the middle: a C-, no more, no less.
The whole projection now runs through Cam Ward; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The cost of the Gabriel reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
If Cam Ward and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
