This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jake Slaughter, the No. 40 name on the board, stolen at the Round 2 slot. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.

They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work. On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
