The Giants finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B-.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Giants spent their marquee pick on Cam Ward, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.

The cost of the Webb reach is exactly the players who went right after him. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

That Dotson pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 9 of the wish list covered.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Cam Ward
In pick No. 3 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Trey Amos
The board had cheaper options than Trey Amos at the 34th pick, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick65 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson in pick 65 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick104 Rnd4 Savion Williams
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Savion Williams in No. 104. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick134 Rnd4 Kyle McCord
They read the board right and Kyle McCord was the payoff at slot 134. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick155 Rnd5 Mello Dotson
Mello Dotson at Round 5, Pick 16 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick221 Rnd7 Clay Webb
Clay Webb at the Round 7 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick248 Rnd7 Teddye Buchanan
Teddye Buchanan slipping to the 248th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
