Draft Grade — Giants
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureA
A passer of the future in Ward, and a A-, for the Giants.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Ollie Gordon II got past him. The Giants do not have to explain a thing at the Round 7 slot. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.

They have staked the next five years on Cam Ward, which is the only story that really matters here. Every board in the league had Hudson lower, and that gap is the story.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Cam Ward
In slot 4 they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick38 Rnd2 Jalon Walker
A slide stopped in Round 2, Pick 6, with Jalon Walker worth more than the price. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick65 Rnd3 Tyler Warren
They robbed the room for Tyler Warren here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick104 Rnd4 Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba at pick No. 104 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick134 Rnd4 Tez Johnson
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Tez Johnson in the 134th pick, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick153 Rnd5 Kobe Hudson
Value said wait; Kobe Hudson in slot 153 says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick219 Rnd7 Seth McLaughlin
The board had Seth McLaughlin higher than No. 219, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick245 Rnd7 Thor Griffith
They reached into another round for Thor Griffith, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick256 Rnd7 Ollie Gordon II
Somehow Ollie Gordon II was still sitting there in Round 7, Pick 40, and they pounced on premier running back value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
