Bassa should have been long gone. The Giants pounced, and earned a B-.

You build a draft on nights like this. Jeffrey Bassa had no business being available in the Round 7 slot, and the Giants did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

They will need Gabriel to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. They left with interior defensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

The skill positions did well by the weekend.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In No. 3 they get a featured back at fair value.
Pick34 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
Malaki Starks at pick 34 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick65 Rnd3 Dillon Gabriel
Value said wait; Dillon Gabriel in pick No. 65 says they were not listening. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick104 Rnd4 Deontae Lawson
Steal is underselling it; Deontae Lawson at the 104th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick134 Rnd4 Mason Taylor
They barely believed it either: Mason Taylor still on the board at slot 134. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick153 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the 153rd overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick219 Rnd7 Jeffrey Bassa
Jeffrey Bassa in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick245 Rnd7 Micah Morris
This one needs a full-page explanation: Micah Morris in Round 7, Pick 29, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick256 Rnd7 Thor Griffith
Thor Griffith in the 256th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
