FutureA+
Nothing loud, just a tidy B+ for the Giants. Nobody else had Jordan Travis anywhere near slot 134. The Giants did, by 39 spots, and that gap is the whole story. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Jones. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Van Jefferson gives the group a proven body among the projects. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Kool-Aid McKinstry
In the 28th overall pick they get an island corner. A real need, handled.
Pick47
Rnd2
Javon Bullard
A reach on Javon Bullard in Round 2, Pick 15; the board had better options right there. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick60
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy in pick No. 60 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick70
Rnd3
Devontez Walker
They took Devontez Walker at par in the 70th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick107
Rnd4
Braelon Allen
No edge and no loss on Braelon Allen in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick119
Rnd4
Jarvis Brownlee Jr.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 119 with a little surplus value in Jarvis Brownlee Jr.. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick134
Rnd4
Jordan Travis
Jordan Travis at the 134th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick141
Rnd5
Christian Jones
Value with a capital V on Christian Jones in Round 5, Pick 5, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick211
Rnd6
Myles Harden
Myles Harden in No. 211 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick215
Rnd6
Trente Jones
The board fumbled Trente Jones all the way to pick No. 215, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick257
Rnd7
Jawhar Jordan
Jawhar Jordan at the 257th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
