The Giants drew a line under the quarterback search with Sanders: B-. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Giants reached some 117 spots for Collin Oliver, and value like that does not grow back.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Spears-Jennings. Shedeur Sanders is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Shedeur Sanders
In No. 3 they get the face of the franchise at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick34
Rnd2
Trey Amos
Trey Amos at pick 34 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick66
Rnd3
Kyle Kennard
Kyle Kennard in slot 66 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick104
Rnd4
Savion Williams
Savion Williams at the 104th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick134
Rnd4
Terrance Ferguson
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Terrance Ferguson at the 134th pick is the proof. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick155
Rnd5
R Mason Thomas
R Mason Thomas in pick No. 155 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick221
Rnd7
Collin Oliver
A wild overpay on Collin Oliver in the 221st overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The roster fit checks out.
Pick248
Rnd7
Robert Spears-Jennings
A safety of that caliber at No. 248 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
