FutureB-
Quarterback settled, Ward in the fold, and a D for the Giants. The Giants put a flag in the ground for Francisco Mauigoa, 115 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.
That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Everything downstream of Cam Ward depends on Cam Ward, and the building knows it. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong.
For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, safety very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Cam Ward
Cam Ward in pick 2 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick33
Rnd2
Armand Membou
Armand Membou in the Round 2 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick66
Rnd3
Jack Nelson
Jack Nelson in the 66th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick102
Rnd4
Jack Bech
Jack Bech at No. 102 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick109
Rnd4
Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins in pick No. 109 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick129
Rnd4
Kyle McCord
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Kyle McCord well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick134
Rnd4
Antwaun Powell-Ryland
This one needs a full-page explanation: Antwaun Powell-Ryland in pick No. 134, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick145
Rnd5
Chandler Rivers
Chandler Rivers at the 145th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick160
Rnd5
Parker Brailsford
Parker Brailsford in No. 160 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick182
Rnd6
Nicholas Singleton
Taking Nicholas Singleton in the 182nd pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
Pick199
Rnd6
Kaden Prather
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kaden Prather this early at pick 199. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick218
Rnd7
Francisco Mauigoa
A real head-scratcher, Francisco Mauigoa in slot 218 is miles ahead of his ranking. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick221
Rnd7
Eli Stowers
Eli Stowers at the Round 7 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick245
Rnd7
Justin Walley
Justin Walley at Round 7, Pick 31 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The roster fit checks out.
Pick256
Rnd7
Kyle Monangai
A running back of that caliber at pick 256 is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
