Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Giants were there to profit. Barrett Carter, the No. 83 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 134th pick. They executed a plan and it shows in the A.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The cost of the Riley reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The veteran additions, Matthew Stafford chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

In the end it comes back to Walter Nolen, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
