Draft Grade — Giants

Walker should have been long gone. The Giants pounced, and earned a B-. You could see the war room lean forward. Jalon Walker at Round 3, Pick 1 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
The Caldwell reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The safety spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Abdul Carter
In No. 3 they get a problem off the edge at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Booker. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick65
Rnd3
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker at pick 65 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick99
Rnd3
Zy Alexander
They took Zy Alexander at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick105
Rnd4
Jamaree Caldwell
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jamaree Caldwell this early at slot 105. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick154
Rnd5
Kyle Williams
Kyle Williams in pick No. 154 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick219
Rnd7
Carson Vinson
They paid a round early for Carson Vinson in the 219th pick, more than the board wanted. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick246
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa slipping to Round 7, Pick 30 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
