FutureA+
The Giants did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B+. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Giants did exactly that with Jacory Croskey-Merritt in the 246th pick. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
The David Onyemata deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Josh Simmons
Josh Simmons at No. 15 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick34
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
A slide stopped in Round 2, Pick 2, with Jalon Walker worth more than the price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick45
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Omarion Hampton at the Round 2 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick65
Rnd3
Jalen Milroe
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jalen Milroe this early at pick No. 65. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick80
Rnd3
Elic Ayomanor
A tidy bit of business in the 80th pick, where Elic Ayomanor graded well above the range. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick99
Rnd3
Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander in pick 99 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick105
Rnd4
Denzel Burke
Denzel Burke at No. 105 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick154
Rnd5
Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin at the 154th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick219
Rnd7
Cam Jackson
They paid a round early for Cam Jackson in pick 219, more than the board wanted. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick246
Rnd7
Jacory Croskey-Merritt
Value said wait; Jacory Croskey-Merritt in slot 246 says they were not listening. The roster fit checks out.
